Job Description:

Position Summary:

 Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing programs/activities in relation to The Arts for Club members ages 4-18.


AmeriCorps Summary:

AmeriCorps members agree to complete a term of National Service; as they support Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee programming and receive a set living allowance. Upon successful completion of this term of service, AmeriCorps members are eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Resp onsibilities:

  • Help coordinate the Art in a box program support.
  • Work with Club staff to provide engaging individual and small group arts programming to participants during after-school hours. Facilitates programs for members 4-18 years of age.
  • Establish and maintain a rapport with Club staff and parents.
  • Tracks member participation in assigned program areas and document results and progress of members.
  • Provide written documentation of program implementation.
  • Provide direct support and guidance to youth as they develop individual goals and plans.
  • Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members.
  • Implements and participates in programs, projects, and special events.
  • Meet all deadlines.
  • Assist in the development, acquisition and maintenance of art materials.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with community, and arts organizations.
  • Coordinate and organize all donations and facilitate the distribution of donated items to sites.
  • Provides support to the Club sites with outcome goals and objectives based on needs of members, families, and community.
  • Collaborate with Club staff to facilitate Arts programming in the following program areas, but is not limited to: SPARK, Graduation Plus and Camp.
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator to secure volunteers for Club Arts staff as needed
  • Assist with the maintenance of a detailed file for each program and activity in order to report on program impact and attendance.
  • Generates program and event descriptions for agency media promotion materials, brochures, and report development.
  • Create reports and supply materials requested by Boys & Girls Clubs of America related to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee’s art activities.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports as requested.
  • Assist with monitoring of data collection of AmeriCorps Arts programming.
  • Facilitates creation of and collects and provides youth art for presentations, meetings, donor recognition, awards and contest participation.
  • Exposing youth to programs and opportunities that prepare them to create an individualized post-secondary plan.
  • Provides guidance and direction to members in the areas of academic success, healthy lifestyles, and civic and community engagement.
  • Assist with facilitation of Core Area Meetings and effectively provides support from the Program Support Team.
  • Organize and facilitate Image Makers (photography) Exhibit event.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Experience and Skills

Education Requirements:

·       High School Diploma or equivalency.

·       Must provide proof of citizenship, as required by AmeriCorps.

·       Must pass all background check requirements, including fingerprint screening.

Experience Requirements:

·       Experience in visual or performance arts.

·       Experience in program implementation.

·       Experience directly related to youth and youth programming.



·       Enjoys working with youth ages 4-18 years old.

·       Demonstrated examples of working with youth.

·       Group management.

·       Ability to take direction.

·       Highly organized with attention to detail.

·       Ability to relate effectively with diverse population.

·       Good communication skills, both oral and written.
