Job Description:

Position Summary:


Responsible for coaching, supporting, and scheduling (but not supervising) lifeguards. Oversee weekly skill sessions with lifeguard staff.


AmeriCorps Summary:


AmeriCorps members agree to complete a term of National Service as they support Boys & Girls

Clubs of Greater Milwaukee programming and receive a set living allowance. Upon successful completion of this term of service, AmeriCorps members are eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.




  • Provide support and leadership to develop and deliver resident camp programming that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers and utilize Camp’s resources.
  • Evaluate the success of the waterfront and pool programs.
  • Ensure Camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of staff training.
  • Provide day to day guidance, support and coaching to lifeguards.
  • Complete bi-weekly observation forms with each lifeguard.
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in camp.
  • Responsible for observing hazards or enhancements in the natural environment in camp and alerting other appropriate staff.
  • Responsible for transporting campers to and from the Clubs when assigned.
  • Responsible for assessing camper behavior and reporting to Camp Director on an on-going basis.
  • Must participate in required trainings by the Club, County, State, and/or funder.



Experience and Skills



  • High School Diploma. Some college preferred.
  • Must provide proof of citizenship, as required by AmeriCorps.
  • Must pass background check requirements, including a finger print screening.
    • 2-3 years of experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.




  • Knowledge and understanding of resident camp programming and working with young adults.
