Job Description:

Job Summary:

Recruits, sources, interviews and hires in collaboration with hiring manager for AmeriCorps program positions. Ensures offer is extended, background completed and web based onboarding finalized. Coordinates all AmeriCorps functions including: employee onboarding, training, events, and audits.


  • Responsible for posting, sourcing and interviewing to ensure candidate meets AmeriCorps qualifications, identify candidate fit with appropriate program area, and facilitate interview process with hiring manager. Make contact with candidate as needed during hiring process.
  • Once candidate identified, make offer and complete paperwork. Responsible for ensuring all background requirements are completed prior to candidate start date. This includes but not limited to running fingerprints, CIB, drug test, tuberculosis test, physical, sex offender report, Caregiver Report, and information to Milwaukee Public Schools.
  • Responsible for the utilization of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Web Based On-Boarding, OnCorps and Paylocity timekeeping systems. Build reports as requested.
  • Facilitate all AmeriCorps orientation and training programs.
  • Responsible for daily tracking and maintenance of the AmeriCorps open position worksheet.
  • Responsible for building applicant sources by networking, contacting community partners, external postings, and attending job fairs.
  • Ensure compliance with strict AmeriCorps guidelines for member paperwork, file completion, multiple time-keeping systems and grant requirements.
  • Responsible for on-site visits twice a year to ensure successful audit of AmeriCorps protocol.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports for AmeriCorps as required.
  • Attendance at AmeriCorps meetings and events as requested.
  • Cross train with and be of assistance to all Human Resource functions including special projects as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills

Education Requirements:

  • Two year degree or ongoing coursework equivalent to two years in Human Resources or other relevant degree or three years of progressive human resources work responsibilities and High School Diploma.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least two years’ experience in human resources and employment processing.
  • AmeriCorps experience a plus.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and experience in handling sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.


  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing and seasonal demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delay or unexpected events. Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Strong administrative and data management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office. Proven ability to learn and utilize new technologies and apply technology to management applications critical.
  • Must have a valid WI driver’s license, good driving record, and meets state required automobile insurance minimums.
